A More In Depth Look
Who is VixenHatch?
I am, simply, a young filmmaker.
But that tells you nothing about who I am personally. Creative and mind-blowing are words I could use to describe myself; even still, more detail is needed to move forward.
Outgoing and over-achieving, I strive to make the best of what I have. Positivity is a key to my success’s, the way I look at it, the cup is always half full. Yes, there is stress, problems that I come across; I mean really, that’s normal. I overcome it, I push forward; learning from the problems and mistakes is what really makes us who we are. I wouldn’t say I have gone through more than anyone, because there’s always someone who has gone through more than you, but I have had my own difficulties and I made it, I stand here today and I am proud.
As a filmmaker I sure have a lot more to learn but from my experiences so far and the knowledge I have, I definitely know what I am doing and where I am headed. I don’t have much to prove to anyone quite yet, but from what I do have I sure can show you how I work. I would say music videos are my forte but I can definitely do a whole lot more and still love it as much and make it just as great. I’ve done commercials, PSA’s, dramas, documentaries and experimentals and I enjoy them all for a variety of reasons. In the long run, it’s all film and I love it for the messages you can share and the art you get to show to the world.
Overall I am a choice you want to make, a film you want to screen. I am very reliable and trustworthy, putting my best efforts in to make it better than my last, but also I am passionate, kind and fun to be around and without any fun or personality what is there? I am Summer Comeau; VixenHatch Pictures. Writer, Director and Editor, I am the best me there is.

Summer: I always saw myself singing to be honest and I still do. I really love music and it actually helped me in discovering film. Filmmaking and music go together so there's nothing wrong with doing both.
Summer: I think it was probably when I was in grade 12 that I really knew. As a child I always listened to music and had vivid imagery of how that song could be played out but I never really knew what I could accomplish with it. Theatre Arts and Media Studies really made me realize what filmmaking was and what I could do with it. I don't know what I would've done without those classes. A huge thanks goes out to my teachers, Miss. Kelly Bidlake-Jamieson and Mr. Will Gange, without you who knows what I'd be doing now.
Summer: I love doing so many things when it comes to filmmaking, writing, directing, editing but I think overall the best thing about filmmaking is seeing the whole thing play out in front of your eyes. The final product is just incredible, knowing you have finished and seeing your dreams come alive is just breathtaking. I mean there's always problems and I'll always pick out my own films but just knowing what you have accomplished is a great feeling. It makes me proud and fulfilled.
Summer: Although I do feel like I have done a fairly good job on all of my projects I do have one that I believe stands high above the rest. Aftermath is one of my short films that I really did exactly what I wanted with and more. I just thought of a really interesting story and expanded from there and the filming just worked out perfectly. To be entirely honest, it was my stepfather and my younger sister that acted in it, I just grabbed them both and said "would you want to help me and act in this short film?" and they both agreed to it and it just turned out great. They did an incredible job!
Summer: I see myself singing, acting and running around a film set, directing actors and watching films playout. I can't quite nail myself to one thing it seems, I just love doing so much. I'm so young still and there's so much time left for me, I'm sure glad I have got here now so I can accomplish more and discover more things about myself. I do believe I will be a multitasker in my future, that I am certain of. I love doing so many things that I definitly couldn't stick to just one. But overall I still have time to think, who knows where I'll really be.
Summer: This question stumps me everytime! There are so many movies that I really love and it's not just for the directing or cinemotography, it's what I grew up on and the memories it brings. For example I wouldnt say "Thirteen Ghosts" is an incredible movie but I sure love it, I grew up watching that and it's the same for "Monkey Bone" and "Detroit Rock City." Some films I really love for the filmmaking would be, "The Goonies," "Edward Scissorhands," "Trainspotting," there's so many movies I find amazing but it would be impossible to name every single one on the spot.
Summer: I really enjoy all different types of film but my favorite category is definitly Drama's, although doing Commercials and Public Service Announcements are favorites too. Drama's stand above and honestly I think experimentals would too. The scripts of fun to write with Drama's and too see the actors play it out is so amazing, but experimentals may even top up because a script isn't entirely necessary and Music Video's fit in very well with this and as I said before I love doing both. I always saw the Music Video play out in my head so that would be the top on my list.
Summer: It really does depend on what project, but all in all I am pretty picky when it comes to my own work and I think that's normal, who isnt? I show someone my work and I'll point out all of these problems and they have no idea what I'm talking about, they think it's incredible. I just can't seem to see past the tiny imperfections, it just has to be perfect, always.
